Purple Loctite threadlocker Purple Loctite threadlocker is considered to have low adhesion strength. It can be disassembled with low torque with the same hand tool used to install it. Loctite® thread locker is applied to the threads of machine threaded metal fasteners prior to installation to prevent loosening from vibration or shock. It also seals threads to prevent leakage and corrosion. The product sets in approximately 10 minutes. If removal is required, heat the parts at 450°F for 5 minutes and disassemble while hot.

Loctite threadlockers are primarily designed to prevent fasteners from leaking or loosening from vibration. The difference between red and blue threadlocker is a matter of strength and removability.
